Following up on stellar editions in 2015 and 2016, Pukkelpop and Disco Naïveté once again join forces on the notorious South by Southwest showcase festival in Austin, Texas. Just like last year they’ll be hosting an official showcase in The Sidewinder, a prominent club on the central Red River Street. The showcase will take place on March 16th and offers a stage to both Belgian and international talents.
Coely kicked off last year’s edition of Pukkelpop on the Main Stage with a vibrant set and The Sore Losers are a loved local rock ’n roll band. These acts will join our trip across the pond to SXSW, following in the footsteps of Oscar And The Wolf and Woodie Smalls among others.
These Belgian talents will share the stage with a handful of buzzing international acts. Our neighboring country The Netherlands are present with Drive Like Maria and Klyne, respectively solid rock ’n roll and lush synth pop.
The line-up is completed by Noga Erez and her tumultuous hip-pop (ISR), CHINAH’s dreamy melodies (DK), Au/Ra’s wild jungle pop (SPA), Jamie Isaac and his touching ambient soul (UK), fantasia pop by Casi (UK), Tunde Olaniran’s neo-rap (US), Flint Eastwood’s magnetic pop (US) and Roses-hit wonder ROZES (US).
Chokri Mahassine (organiser Pukkelpop): “We’ve been heading to SXSW for over 10 years now, discovering new music and the latest musical trends. Mumford & Sons is one of the bands we saw in a small Austin club a couple of years back and now they’re headlining this year’s edition of Pukkelpop. New talent is key for both Pukkelpop and Disco Naïveté, so our joint SXSW showcase is the perfect opportunity to shine the spotlight on promising acts from Belgium and abroad.”
