New Yorker Ashley Nicolette Frangipane (kid you not) belongs to a new generation of indie pop princesses who owe their success to social media. Good songs are a great help of course. But so are good marketing instincts. Musically, Halsey is the rebellious stepsister of Lorde and Taylor Swift. Her first album 'Badlands' stood out with sultry, wilful and grand electro pop. Her biggest hit so far: 'Closer', the earworm she created with The Chainsmokers. Her new album 'Hopeless Fountain Kingdom' is expected in June.
